By introducing the concepts of a command line, proper syntax, and what a variable is, students will have a solid programming foundation on which to build over the years.
Inside Minecraft is a digital logic toolbox where students can
see how a computer thinks. It shows students that computers
are not toys, but tools they can use.
Students will pull from their math, reading, writing and communications skills to complete challenges.
Instructor Jonathan Coleman studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in high school and college, while also working for OSU’s IT department. After college, he taught English in China for 2.5 years. He returned to the U.S. seven years ago and works in IT. He organized this after-school club to bring a fun, interesting computer curriculum to grade schoolers and give them a chance to express their creativity through engineering.
During the hour and a half program. Children choose challenges based on their interests, building a their own virtual world to explore.

Students will learn advanced building techniques that
teach electrical engineering and digital logic.

Students work on projects and challenges to earn rewards which foster self motivation.
