Becoming a Volunteer

There are many different ways to volunteer and help continue our efforts to bring enriching experiences to our school community.

Whether you are a PTA member or not, volunteering is a great way to support our kids and school. There are many opportunities to volunteer throughout the year and many take minimal commitment. Whether you are a working parent or have more flexibility there are many events throughout the school year that need your help. We have executive board positions, and committee chairs, as well as volunteer opportunities during fundraisers, family fun nights, teacher appreciation, talent show and carnival. We hope that any of these will interest you. Contrary to popular belief you don’t have to do it all. Pick one (or two!) things and I promise you, your time will be appreciated!

Executive Board Positions

Help run your PTA and be an advocate for our children

PTA president runs general meetings, and makes sure that events are scheduled, and positions are filled for the year.

Many opportunities to volunteer and help run our PTA

We have several events and programs that need a committee chair. As committee chair you will work with the executive board to manage and run these programs or an event.

  • Hospitality
  • Enrichment
  • Family Fun Nights
  • Carnival
  • End of Year Picnic
  • Talent Show
  • Communications
  • Volunteer Mobilizing
  • Fundraising/Jog-a-Thon
  • Membership
  • Board Nominating Committee

Our volunteers help run several events during the school year. In order to put on these events we need an event chair for each event.

We run up to 6 family fun nights a year. More than one person can chair this committee. These nights are usually a themed event and occur on a Friday night. Family night committee chair coordinates volunteers to come up with themes and manages the event volunteers for set up, take down, providing entertainment, and/or providing food. The committee chair works with the school to provide event space and access to the event. We have a planning guide for anyone interested in chairing family fun nights.

The talent show chair works with the executive board, and volunteers to put on the annual talent show. Talent show chair coordinates a preview event, where kids perform a short audition a month prior to the event. This preview event usually occurs after school. The talent show night occurs on a Friday Night. Committee volunteers decorate, manage talent and flow of the show, as well as set up and take down of the event.

Jog-A-Thon is our main fundraiser. Jog-a-thon committee chair works closely with the fundrasing chair to coordinate and run this event.

Carnival chair works with volunteer mobilizer and other relevant committees to organize volunteers for food distribution, game stations (set up and running), raffle prizes, bake sale, game prizes, ticket sales, and promotions.

End of Year picnic chair works with the executive board and school to coordinate the end-of-year picnic for student’s and parents. The committee chair will work with volunteers to create a picnic menu, gather food items, food distribution, set up and clean up.

PTA Programs

Our PTA has several programs/committees, please consider signing up to help run a program.

Our main fundraising event is Jog-A-Thon. However, the fundraiser chair coordinates with the executive board to help assess and plan fundraising programs throughout the year to help us meet our goals. Fundraising chair also heads other efforts such as Box Top program, Script e-cards, and any other fundraising efforts, such as managing and promoting Amazon smile.

Communications committee runs the website, moderates social media accounts, handles distributing communications to staff/members/volunteers. They work with other committee chairs to promote events via fliers, letters, forms, email, etc…

Enrichment chair and committee is responsible for building and implementing afterschool programs for kids, such as minecraft, playwell, and mad science.

Works with various committee chairs to fill volunteer positions. Maintains the volunteer list and communicates with volunteers.

Membership chair maintains our membership database, and communication’s lists. Membership chair maintains member forms, puts on member drives and coordinates with volunteer mobilizer to build volunteer lists.

Nominating committee helps reach out to parents, staff, and our volunteer base to build a pool of executive board members and committee members to keep PTA staffed and running for future families entering the school.

Hospitality chair is responsible for running events to show appreciation to our parents and school staff. Hospitality runs several events during the year including teacher appreciation events, coffee in the morning, back to school social and breakfast. Hospitality chair works closely with volunteer mobilizing committee to gather assistance for these events.
